Green cited President Trump’s July 14 tweets criticizing freshman Congresswomen Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA). Green specifically mentioned Trump saying “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
All but one of the four were born in America.
A report by The Hill stated that House Democrats are conflicted on whether impeachment at this point is a smart political move.
Green’s office sent a statement to The Texan, saying, “I will read articles of impeachment on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives before the close of the business today. To condemn a racist President is not enough, we must impeach him. This will be a defining vote. The world is watching, and history will judge us all.”
It should be noted that Green originally called for Trump’s impeachment in May 2017 and filed his first impeachment resolution against the president in October 2017.
