“We had a student in Michigan handing out pocket constitutions… and she had an administrator approach her — some bureaucrat — demand that she stop doing what she’s doing unless she goes into what they call their ‘free speech zone,'” said Maloney when relaying the story of one particular YAL chapter member. “She stood firm… They called the police. They booked all three of them in jail.”
“We’ve sued them. We immediately got the codes changed — which is our first objective — and then we even went after damages for the students… sadly, that is the only thing these bureaucrats respond to,” Maloney concluded.
Cliff Maloney began founding and administrating YAL chapters as early as 2011 and has been President since 2016. Young Americans for Liberty purports on its website to be “the most active and effective libertarian youth organization advancing liberty on campus and in American Electoral politics.”
