Texas’ 13th Congressional District is the most heavily Republican congressional district in the country according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index. Whoever emerges from the 15-person GOP primary is all-but-assured to succeed retiring Representative Mac Thornberry.

A key endorsement has been made in the race by a conservative juggernaut, Club for Growth PAC.

Later today, the Club for Growth PAC will announce its endorsement of Chris Ekstrom — a conservative businessman and prominent GOP donor — in the 13th Congressional District GOP primary.

This is the organization’s second endorsement in Texas for the upcoming cycle with its first going to prominent freshman Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX-21).

Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh stated, “Chris Ekstrom is a successful entrepreneur who believes in free trade, free enterprise, and fiscal conservatism.”

“He is the most conservative viable candidate in the primary for the Texas 13th Congressional District Republican primary and he understands the policies that grow jobs and the economy for Texas families,” McIntosh concluded.

Club for Growth says it “support[s] principled, pro-growth conservatives” in elections.

Last week, Ekstrom announced his intention to join the House Freedom Caucus should he be elected.

In 2018, Club for Growth PAC achieved an 85 percent success rate in its endorsed races.

In October, Club for Growth also announced its new Texas state legislative scorecard.
