Earlier this month, the Dallas City Council was slated to consider firing the city manager after complaints from several council members.
The city manager defended his record as members of the Dallas City Council are calling on him to be terminated.
Among other problems, the city council said the current convention center “[lacks] an authentic urban experience.”
In total, four incumbents are departing the Dallas City Council. Three reached their term limit and David Blewett lost to Paul Ridley.
Only 10 percent of registered voters in Dallas County turned out to vote on Election Day. Neighboring Tarrant County saw 13 percent turnout.
The city council ultimately cut $7 million from the Dallas Police Department’s overtime budget.
Consideration of the city's police funding will be delayed until August after the Dallas City Council overwhelmingly opted to postpone the vote.
