Texas’ 34th Congressional District Election
Four candidates are competing in a special election to fill the remainder of Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX-34): Republicans Mayra Flores and Juana “Janie” Cantú-Cabrera, and Democrats Dan Sanchez and Rene Coronado.
Candidates are competing within the current boundaries of the district, which is anchored in Cameron County and contains several South Texas counties that will be represented in different districts after the November election.
If no candidate receives over 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates will advance to a runoff election at a date set by the governor.
