County Partisan Ratings Change After 2022 Midterm
Republicans swept each statewide office this year by double-digit margins. As the headliner, Gov. Greg Abbott pulled in roughly 55 percent of the vote, setting the tone for each statewide race down the ballot.
This provides another data point for the partisan leaning of the state. The Texan’s Texas Partisan Index — an average of all statewide results in a series of consecutive election cycles — pegged the state’s partisan leaning at R-54%. After this midterm, that rating moved to R-56%.
